Ashburton Cookery School

Ashburton Cookery School offers a fresh approach to cookery with exciting courses that emphasise hands-on involvement, top quality Devon produce and inspirational teaching.

Set in a beautiful Georgian town on the edge of Dartmoor, Ashburton Cookery School was founded by Stella West-Harling.

All of our courses are based around fundamental cookery techniques and methods that can be applied whether you’re working in a professional kitchen or entertaining at home.

We have recently been awarded the Green Tourism Silver award to reflect our responsible environmental approach.

Everything we do is underpinned by a desire to promote food that has been grown in a way that is sustainable, environmentally sensitive, ethical and supportive of local business. Please see our environmental policy here

Our teachers are fully qualified lecturers and NVQ assessors with extensive experience working in the catering industry and bring with them a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Most of the classes have only ten students and tuition is almost all 'hands-on' work, individual or in pairs.

Whatever your level of skills we have a course to suit you - click here to read about course levels

From complete beginners to advanced intensive training, our tutors will guide you through fundamental techniques to build a repertoire which will help you develop your skills to the utmost you can achieve during your time with us. Even a one day cookery course will give you knife skills and food handling training as well as around 5 hours tuition - and you get to eat the food you have prepared afterwards !
